You Can Have ANYTHING You Want in Life

Alan lets you into the Secret of How to get Anything You Want for your Business and in Life in today’s episode of The Daily PopUp.

You can have anything you want in life, asterisks, if you’re willing to pay the price in full, upfront and in advance. And this is the problem with businesses actually that most people try and get the rewards before they put in the effort. They try and borrow the money first to start the business. They want the customers to come to them without doing the hard work to get the customers. and I think I found this really fascinating in a programme we’re doing recently, with traders helping them to grow their business, that they want more customers, they want more footfall but when we say, here’s what you’ve got to do to get it, they weren’t willing to pay the price to have what they wanted. And that’s the key bit, you can have anything you want in life, if you’re willing to pay the price upfront and full in advance. If you want to be a good speaker, then you need to pay in advance and go and practice. Go to Toastmasters. Go and speak wherever you can. If you want to have customers for your business, you need to pay in advance and do the marketing, do the work to get the customers in. If you want to retire early, then you need to pay in advance by doing the work up front, saving the money and investing it. If you do the work up front, you can get what you want afterwards. So I’ve got three steps that I want you to take.

Step number one, decide what it is you want. What specifically do you want to achieve? More customers grow a business become a professional speaker? Whatever it is, and actually, if you just do step one, that will put you ahead of nearly everyone else out there.

Step two, once you’ve decided what it is you want, work out what the cost of getting that is and cost doesn’t necessarily mean money. It can mean time, it can mean energy, it can mean effort, it can mean putting you out there. And whether you want to be a professional speaker, the cost is the hours you need to put in writing your speech, learning how to be a speaker. If you want to grow a business, the cost is creating your product, the time and energy put into doing it. The time and energy you need to put in finding customers. Quite often it’s not a monetary cost. It’s a time and energy cost. So step two is work out what the cost is going to be of getting what you want to achieve.

And thirdly, you need to decide whether you actually want to pay that cost in time and energy. Lots of people I know love the idea of becoming an entrepreneur, but they’re not willing to put in the effort, the time, the energy to actually make it happen. So you need to decide whether you’re willing to pay the cost to get what you want. If you’re not set a new goal. If you are, go out there and make it happen as quickly as possible. If you want to build a business, it’s not easy. It takes time, it takes effort, it takes energy. And you need to be aware of that before you get going. So I want you to think about what is the cost of running a business? How much time am I going to have to spend away from my family or doing other things? You need to be aware of the cost of what it’s going to take to build the business and remember, you can have anything you want in life if you’re willing to pay the price in full in advance and upfront.
