I attended the online National Rebel Business School in September 2021, as I was in the first months of starting my business. I was looking for some training on business matters, and I came across Rebel Business School via Google.
My main interest was enhancing my knowledge of running a business. I knew how to do my job, but it can be lonely when you have everything else to do (finance, accounting, marketing, etc.) It was great to find other people on the same boat and share experiences. The whole two weeks were inspirational in many different ways and gave me insights into doing things like social media.
My lightbulb moment was when Simon was taking questions, and I asked how I would know if I was ready to grow, and he said something that really resonated, which was something along the lines of, “Maybe you are scared of success…” And I think he nailed it.
He also told the story about his colleague not really thinking everything through with some marketing material, but actually getting the word out there.
And I thought about myself; I had been working on my website for about four months and constantly tweaking things because I wanted it to be perfect before publishing it.
After the course, I decided to finish it off and stop being so meticulous about its looks and other things and get it out to the world, so I did, and it felt great.
My business has developed really well, and I’m keeping busy, being able to manage my work/life balance, which is why I left my employment in the first place. I can manage my own clients, make my own decisions, etc. My project is to expand my business or maybe move it altogether to Colombia, where I could work on building conservation, which is my passion.
Rebel Business is also operating in Colombia, which was a big surprise, and gave me hope that I could do something there, too. The course did not change my business vision, but made me feel more confident that my dream is attainable.
I believe that nothing in business is impossible. If somebody else has done it before, then I can do it too!
