For six years, we have been travelling around the country helping people to start small businesses and make money doing what they love. And we’ve always done that, in course format. So we physically pop up in a location, we help a cohort of people to get going. And we’ve always wanted to help as many people as possible. And that’s why when we met Aaron, the reading pop up, we decided together, that it was time to put the content of the course into a book structure. What made you want to come and do that?

On the course, one of the it’s one of the things we were challenged to do was sell something to someone. Because my speciality was sort of right in, I find it hard to think about what I could sell, and what value I could sell. So one of the thoughts was well, that the information on the course is really valuable. And if I can write it in such a way, that puts what you taught us, and to book format, then that would be worth it. And so, in effect, you’re taking the business, the right way to start a business, and basically putting the key points into, but for the thought that that was something I would enjoy as well.

And we’ve always wanted to take the process that we have for starting businesses, which is the exact opposite to the traditional approach, and get it out to people to help them get going quickly. Because we think that borrowing money, business plans, all that formal structure stuff, is the wrong way to start completely the wrong way to start. And we want to spread the message wider than just 1000 people who are lucky enough to get the opportunity to come on a course, because we found the funder to pay us to prop up in their space.

And I guess the thing is that that when you go out there, and you’re trying to do something for yourself and start a business, that’s all you hear, all you ever hear is write the business plan, go and get a loan, see if you can make a business work, see if we can make money. Whereas that shouldn’t be the way that shouldn’t be the starting point for people who don’t have money, and don’t really know what they’re doing with writing a business plan. You know. So just just think the real message has been heard.

So Aaron came on the first pop up business school hearing reading, which was in February, March of 2016. And that’s when we inspired you with the course content. And you then sold us our own content as a book format, which is genius. The instruction was sell something to someone and you did, I just wasn’t expecting it to be me. And we started writing the book and it’s going and the for us why we want to do this is we want to help as many people to get going and to make money doing what they love. That’s That’s our mission of our business is to help people make money because the game’s changed, the game has completely changed, you don’t need to borrow money to get going. You don’t need to build big businesses, you can start businesses from home, agile businesses, small businesses that will make you enough money to live, doing what you really enjoy. That’s what we’ve been planning on doing.

The I think the way is very important because and today, in the modern world, jobs aren’t safe. People are changing, to have more freedom in your life, and be able to do things that you enjoy and make money out that is so important. It’s just, it’s just that nobody really saw. There’ll be a lot of people out there who have good ideas, but nobody really knows how to get that idea into their head. And all they need is that little push just to create something that’s extraordinary,

which is the practical how to bet which this book is all about. It’s the practical how to bet so you don’t have an idea. Here’s how to come up with ideas. You have an idea, here’s what to do first. Here’s how to build the website. Here’s how to do the social media, here’s how to find the customers, here’s how to structure the deals and make the money. Here’s the stuff they don’t teach you on the MBA business course they don’t teach you in business school. This is the real practical, applicable stuff about how to get going.

And here and here is the confidence here is the confidence to do they don’t know, a normal business courses, they don’t instil the confidence that just takes the process. Whereas behind the process, there has to be where you build a person and you give them positivity, motivation and confidence to follow through.

And one of the things Simon I always talk about is spend as much time building your confidence

as you do building your business.

Obviously struck home in the course

that that’s the thing of the course there’s so much value in the course that it deserves a wider reach. It deserves to be free For people to see it, think about it and change their, you know, change their ideas.

And there’s a whole chapter on confidence, how do you build confidence? How do you feel more confidence? It’s a kind of the underlying magic ingredient beneath all of this. Because quite often people know what to do to start a business, they know what to do. They don’t do it. And why don’t they do it, because they’re not confident it’ll work, they’re not sure that it will work. If you’re truly confident, you’d go out there and do it. So if you can start with confidence, self belief, energy, and then layer in the practical steps of what to do, we can get people going, we can help you get going to make money doing what you love.

I mean, it’s okay to be motivated, it’s okay to have a great idea. But until you go and dare take action, build your confidence, go out and try it, nothing happens. And I think a lot of the time, the reason people don’t do that is because they think the process is so hard, they think it’s so difficult, they think it’s gonna take a long time. But in actual fact, if you learn some basics and learn the right way, it doesn’t have to take a long time. It doesn’t have to be difficult.

I mean, the books coming, we’re working on it, we spent years developing the content, we’ve spent a good six months writing it together and getting going, what we’d really like from you, is some help choosing the title. What are we going to call the book? What are we going to call the process? Some help knowing exactly what you want in the book? So tweet, Aaron, tweet me send us some messages to the pop up business school? Tell us? What do you want in the book, what questions you want answered? Do you want it to focus more on confidence or more on the web building? Or what do you want, because we’d love to really know what people want. We’ve got a fairly good idea after six years of doing this, but the more you tell us about what you want, the more we can shape the book,

we’ll look at the content and the book is a different type of content, a different approach. So how do we write the book, how we get that book finished, should be different as well, should be much more inclusive with communication and getting people to tell us what they want, tell us what they’d like to see. Tell us what works and what doesn’t work. And that’ll create something with more value.

Definitely. And we’re gonna combine that with some online video contents and audio content. It’s going to be more than just a book, which I’m really excited about creating a new generation of books. And at some stage, we’re going to have to reject create a video trailer for the book, which I’m really looking forward today. So there’s so much going on in the pop up business school now. We wanted to take the time out this afternoon to talk about the book that’s coming. Get in touch. Send us what you want. Send us questions send us information. The more you do that, the more valuable the book will be for you. Looking forward to hearing from you. The Twitter addresses will be below or leave comments below. We’ll announce the book shortly.
