So the question we’ve had is how do I register my company? And really, that question depends on whether you’re registering as a sole trader, or a limited company, or something else. As a basic overview, if you’re a sole trader, you only need to tell her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs that you’ve started your business. And you’ve got going, if you’re registering as a limited company, then you need to tell Companies House, what you’re doing, and what’s going on with your business, as well as HMRC. So it really does depend on what type of business you’re setting up. So the best thing to do is have a look at some of our other videos that describe what businesses you can set up, we did a whole series with MMA, our accountant, for you to have a look at

what are the legal implications for registering as a sole trader. And actually, they change their rules fairly recently used to get up to three months to register your business once you started trading. But actually, now you don’t need to tell HMRC that you’ve become a sole trader until the fifth of October in your second business year, your second business tax year. So actually, you’ve got quite a long time, our advice and their advice to will be get on with it and tell them don’t wait till then.

And the other thing to remember is that HMRC are not difficult. I know the whole thing, the whole process can be quite daunting, it can be quite a big task thinking you’ve got register yourself to be your sole trader or your limited company. But really, it’s not difficult. If you call HMRC up, they are nice as anything, they will talk you through the whole process. I can even do it. If I can do it, I’m sure you’ll be more than capable. And it’s the same as what we always say at the pop up business school is that if you’re unsure of anything, get professional help, call them up, see what they say, get an accountancy or they say, a good. A good idea that I often execute is I find a master in the subject, I find somebody that has already done it. And I find somebody that does it perfectly and does it to the standard that I need it done. And then I can learn from them. I’ll see how they do it. I’ll see how they fit it around what they need to do, and how they execute the exact task. I mean, it’s a brilliant way of doing it, get professional help, or just give them a call. They’re nice as anything and they’ll help you out.
